Cookie Policy

1. The one cookie we set

• jw_session — keeps you signed in after you have signed in with Google. It lasts 14 days, it is set by this site rather than by anyone else, and it is marked httpOnly, so scripts running in your browser cannot read it.

That is the whole list. Without it, signing in would not survive opening a second tab or returning later, which is why it is described below as strictly necessary.

2. Why you are not asked to accept cookies

Under the ePrivacy rules, a cookie that is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for does not need your consent — and a cookie that is not strictly necessary does. Our only cookie is in the first category, and we set nothing in the second. There is therefore nothing for you to accept or reject, and a banner asking you to would be a choice with only one outcome.

3. What we do not do

• No analytics cookies, and no analytics service running in your browser.
• No advertising or marketing cookies, and no ad networks.
• No tracking of you across other websites, and no sharing of your browsing with anyone for that purpose.
• No third-party scripts loaded into the pages you use while signed in.

We do use Sentry to find out when the service breaks, but it runs on our servers only. It is not loaded into your browser and it sets nothing on your device.

4. Other things kept in your browser

Cookies are not the only way a site can store something on your device, so for completeness:

• Firebase Authentication, which handles signing in, keeps your session in your browser's own storage so you are not asked to sign in on every visit. Signing out clears it.
• The Job Watcher browser extension, if you install it, holds your sign-in token in session storage, which your browser clears when you close it.

5. Signing in with Google

Signing in sends you to Google, and Google sets its own cookies on its own domain while it does that. Those are Google's, not ours: we cannot read them, and they are governed by Google's privacy and cookie policies rather than by this one.

6. If this changes

If we ever add something that is not strictly necessary — usage analytics, for example — we will ask you first, the choice will be a real one, refusing will not cost you access to the service, and you will be able to change your mind later from your privacy settings. We will update this page and its date at the same time.
